Hand-picked from the Baxendale vineyard high on Whitlands hills, in early March. Crushed to small open tubs, the fruit had excellent balance and good acidity and was fermented for 7 days, hand plunging regularly to maximise the colour, flavour and tannin extraction, before pressing off skins to finish secondary ferment and maturing for 14 months in new (25%), one year old (25%) and young French oak barriques.

The warm vintage produced dark maroon/plum colour and ripe blackcurrant aromas with notes of bay leaf, cedar and spice; the rich flavours are anchored and lengthened by pronounced oak characters and fine tannins. Drink 2022 til 2030
