Hand-picked from the Baxendale vineyard high on Whitlands hills, in mid April. Two thirds were crushed to small open tubs, the rest was destemmed and fermented as whole berries; the fruit was beautifully ripe and had excellent acidity. After fermenting for 13 days, hand plunging regularly to maximise the colour, flavour and tannin extraction, the wine was pressed off skins to 3 and 4 year old pincheons and barriques for 13 months.

The cool vintage produced dark maroon colour and ripe blackcurrant aromas with notes of blackberry, bay leaf and spice; the rich flavours are anchored and lengthened by fine oak characters and tannins. Drink 2024 til 2035
